When our vocation becomes the burden that thwarts our faithful efforts we must reduce, refocus and replenish! When Mass becomes a chore rather than a celebration, it is time to reduce, refocus and replenish! Reduce obligations. Refocus priorities. Replenish your spirit. Start by attending Mass!
Feeling emotionally and physically drained we must put forth every ounce of strength to attend Mass not giving in to our fatigue. The celebration of the Mass is our greatest source of nourishment to replenish our weary soul. Mass provides us with an opportunity to be in the presence of our Lord. Mass provides us with stillness. Though our minds might be racing, our bodies are still. Can you remember a time when you were just you? Not serving, not coordinating, not controlling, but just being? When all we have left to give is mediocrity, it is time to reduce, refocus and replenish! Mass is exactly where we need to be. Unable to contribute joyfully to the celebration, we can internalize the joyous celebration savoring every word, gesture and iconic image present. Assimilate God’s graces and wisdom as He speaks to our heart throughout the celebration. Through the grace of prayer, our minds will slow down to match the pace of our bodies. Pray for the courage to say “No” when our best is no longer in us to give. If we truly want to serve the church, we must allow ourselves the golden opportunity to be served by the Lord our God.
How are you serving God? How are you allowing God to serve you?
